I work with motifs like masks, claws, teeth, fish bones, tentacles, anatomical oddities, primal fears, isolation and intrusive thoughts. I find beauty in absolutely everything, and that includes all the creepy crawlies in my art.

My influences wander between horror manga, rubber-hose cartoons, science fiction, graphic novels, blackwork tattoos, spiritual iconography and horror cinema. I'm particularly fond of artists like Al Columbia, Junji Ito and Shintaro Kago. I like images with depth, movement and atmosphere, and I'm always looking for glimpses of things we don't normally get to see: private moments, hidden interiors, unfamiliar places.

Drawing is a strange kind of hypnosis for me. I disappear into it for hours. The part I like most is that I never completely know what I'm making when I start; the image reveals itself as I work, and in the process it reveals something about me too.

I started taking illustration seriously during the pandemic, teaching myself in isolation from a cramped studio while trying to build a life around the person I wanted to reunite with on the other side of the planet. That's how I ended up in Brussels, surrounded by some of the best cartoonists, painters and illustrators in the world.

I'm obsessive about the technical, probably to an unhealthy degree. I care about the tiny decisions that make an image work, but storytelling, design and atmosphere are what ultimately keep me interested. I want my work to provoke something immediate: fascination, curiosity, discomfort, excitement. Ideally, a little envy too.

Outside of art, I'm a gamer with a competitive streak, a gym rat, a paperback over-consumer, and an all-round junk-drawer collection of interests that I have never successfully condensed into a coherent list.
